SAPULPA, Okla. (April 18, 2017) Work in shop is starting to show on track for Blake Hahn as the Pizza Express/Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 ran to a season best fourth place finish with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia.
“We’ve been tweaking on our engine program all season. We’re good on smaller tracks, but we’ve been struggling for speed on the larger tracks and Sedalia is one where you need to have a stout engine,” commented Hahn.
The team’s work showed as Hahn advanced from sixth to third in his Heat Race.
“It pulled all the way into the corners so I was really happy. The early start had us a little worried about tires, but the track was good and we were able to move around. We just watched the track after that and made small adjustments for the feature.”
Racing through the feature, Blake was able to run top to bottom on the fairgrounds half-mile.
“The start was a little tricky because the track had dried out a little bit, so it was dusty, but once the track cleaned off, you could still run top or bottom if you needed to. They watered the top of one and two before we went out, and that really helped, especially in traffic so overall, I was happy to get a top-five.”
Hahn’s next outing is scheduled to be the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout At 81-Speedway in Park City, Kan. on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22. The event can be viewed live on https://www.speedshifttv.com.
