SAPULPA, Okla. (May 23, 2017) Taking on the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products this past Saturday night at Lawton Speedway, Blake Hahn wheeled his Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 to a sixth place finish.
Rolling through the gates of the Oklahoma quarter-mile, Hahn admits they were not expecting the track to be a dry as it was.
“We were expecting heavy and were really pleased to see the track as dry as it was. What was really nice is it let us work on our slick track setup a little bit and get some notes for next month when we come back for Speedweek.”
Sixth to third in his Heat Race put Hahn one spot shy of the redraw for the feather event.
“The first three Heats we all ran sixth to third, so the tie put us outside the draw, but the car felt really good and gave us something to work with in the feature where we were able to tighten it up and get around the bottom at the start,” said Hahn. “I didn’t realize the top was coming in as quickly as it did, so I felt like I gave up a little bit by not moving up sooner, but overall, it was a solid night.”
Looking to Memorial Day Weekend, Hahn will venture west with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network for the series debut at El Paso County Raceway and Phillips County Raceway this Saturday and Sunday.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend. We’ve never been to these tracks, and they look like they can be pretty fun.”
