ALGER, Wash. (June 29, 2017) Ending out three nights of racing with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the 46th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino and Resort, Blake Hahn walked away with a fifth place finish in the Griffith Truck and Equipment/Blade RV No. 52.
“It was a great weekend for us overall. Thursday was really the only night that was down for us finishing 10th. The track was a little rough in spots, so it made things tricky, but after that, the surface was great the rest of the weekend. Steve and his whole crew did a great job as always. That’s part of what makes coming up here so enjoyable,” commented Hahn.
Taking his 10th place finish into Friday’s preliminary run, Hahn was near the front all night.
“The whole event revolves around collecting event points for Saturday, so my focus was hitting my marks and staying out of trouble. We finished second in our Heat, did that again in the Qualifier, so that started us fourth in the main and we ended up third. Traffic was tricky at times, so my focus went from running down the leaders, to not getting crashed.”
Putting his mount fifth in the finale lineup, Hahn spent much of the race battling with Jason Solwold through lapped traffic.
“The track was good on Saturday. If we had to run the bottom we could, but the cushion was where it was at. I got to fourth at one point on Solwold and was running down third, but traffic got me pinned and he got back around me but he was fun to race with. His car owner came down after the race and shook my hand and thanked us for a clean race. We need more of that in this sport.”
Up next for Hahn is the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1. Hahn would like to give a special thanks to Blade RV for their support during the team's northwest swing.
