Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (June 12, 2019) Capping off the 2019 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek third in driver standings, Blake Hahn sits within striking distance of the overall point’s lead with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network as the series turns towards their Northwest swing.

“Speedweek was real up and down for us. We had good runs but didn’t have the consistency we needed to make up ground overall, but even with that, we’re still in the hunt for the championship with tracks coming up that we’ve run really well at,” commented Hahn.

Hampered by rain in Amarillo, Hahn missed his first National Tour win of the year at Devil’s Bowl Speedway by inches to Travis Rilat. Leading the first half of the race, Hahn biked the car into the first turn and made a miraculous comeback from fifth.

“I was angry, man I was angry when I biked the car, and just had to calm down and run the race. The car was great, and our finish proved that. When we got back to second, I knew I had a shot a winning, and seeing Travis miss the line a little bit in three and four, I shot for whatever hole I could get and just came up short. I really thought I did win until I saw the video of the finish in slow motion.”

Battling at the front of the field in Lawton, a misstep in the third turn sent Hahn spinning to the back of the lineup before making his way back to an 11th place finish, “We just missed the setup a little bit. Once I spun, I was trying every line I could after that, and I was able to make up some ground. Just didn’t have enough.”

Rained out again at Creek County Speedway, the team made the trip to Salina Speedway on Saturday with Hahn racing to a fourth-place finish.

“Salina was a tough track. We had the lead through one and two, just couldn’t get to the bottom fast enough going into turn-three and let Sam get out on us and we ran second for a long time, just made mistakes in traffic so going from the pole to fourth, I wasn’t very happy, but we have a lot of races to go so I’m not going to hang on it and keep moving forward.”

Up next, the team will trek to the Northwest with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network with this weekend landing the team in Aberdeen, S.D. for Brown County Speedway on Friday, June 14 and Rapid City, S.D. on Saturday, June 15 for Black Hills Speedway.

The 2019 season is Blake Hahn’s 17th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars.
