Bryan Hulbert – PONTOON BEACH, Ill. (May 26, 2021) Claiming his ninth top-five finish of the season, Blake Hahn fought his way from 10th to fourth at Tri-City Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
Dealing with an imbalance in the car throughout the A-Feature after swapping the front axle following contact with the wall in his Heat Race, Hahn had to be on his toes throughout the 25 lap event.
“At the start of the night, the car felt awesome, we got a decent start in the Heat before we got into the wall and bent the axle. It wasn’t bad enough I had to pull in, but it kept us from going forward anymore,” stated Hahn.
Getting the axle swapped out, the team quickly realized there was a problem with the new hardware. Without another axle to swap to, the team adjusted as best they could to get the front-end geometry where it needed to be. The result was achieved but was a handful.
“We ended figuring out the axle was put in was one we had purchased a few years ago before we went to our current setup, so it really messed with the roll center of the car and how we could attack the corner, but once I got a feel for where the car was, I was able to adjust and make it work. A big thanks to my team for doing everything they could with what we had to get the car right where we could move forward.”
Going into this weekend, the Sage Fruit Co. No. 52 will take on Lake Ozark Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on Saturday, May 29, and Sunday, May 30. Hahn’s last visit to the Missouri oval was April 2, and 3 with a third and runner-up showing against the Racinboys.com ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.
